I have recently (as in the past few years) reconnected with my high-school classmates. We've had reunions (just had our 45th...), we've gotten together outside of reunions.
These are lifetime friendships that I had no idea existed.
Last year, I reconnected with my college classmates at my 40th reunion. Again, there are some lifetime friendships there that I had no idea existed.
This past summer, one of my British friends came to the States. She and her husband spent a lovely few days with me. I hadn't seen her in 35 years, and it was as if not a day had gone by.
I find my friends provide a link to me as a person. They give me value, they touch my heart.
And I have animal friends. My kitties amuse me, love on me, play with me, and depend on me for their care and comfort ... which I gladly give to them. Theirs is unconditional love.
All that wealth ... who knew?
